Patchell Trailer at the Heart of Tribute Rig for R. Smith Logging

At Patchell Group, we take pride in building equipment that not only performs in the toughest conditions but also carries a bit of meaning. So we were honoured to see our latest logging gear as part of Self Loader Logging’s new Kenworth K220 tribute truck to Taupō contractor legend R. Smith Logging. 

Our custom-engineered Patchell gear was designed and manufactured to handle the demands of Kaingaroa Forest. The 4x5 axle trailer delivers the strength, balance and reliability that operators across New Zealand depend on. Finished with distinctive signwriting by Quality Signs Taupō, the result is a rig that stands out on the road as much as it does in the bush. 

For us, the tribute is pretty cool. R. Smith Logging operated for over three decades and left a lasting mark on the industry. Knowing our gear is part of a truck dedicated to their legacy is a reminder of why we build: to support the local heroes who are such a big part of New Zealand forestry.
